If You’re Impacted by the Federal Government Shutdown, We're Here to Help
Wright-Patt Credit Union® (WPCU®) was founded during challenging times, and our mission remains the same – to be a caring financial partner, supporting our members through every season – the highs and the lows.
As furloughs and the impact of the federal government shutdown continue, we understand many of our members are facing uncertainty. If you’re feeling worried or overwhelmed, we’re here for you – just like family and friends would be.
From personalized, one-on-one support from a Financial Coach to connecting you with trusted community resources, WPCU is your “go-to” resource for guidance and support during this difficult period.
Below are just some of the ways we can help:
If you're experiencing a temporary hardship due to missed paychecks from the federal government shutdown, WPCU is offering a special loan to help bridge the gap.
- Signature loan based on member’s normal net weekly or bi-weekly pay*.
- Loan term of up to 12 months, which includes no payments and no interest for the first 90 days.**
- Fixed rate of 0% for the first 90 days. After the first 90 days, interest will begin to accrue at a fixed rate of 7.25%, for the remainder of the loan term, resulting in a composite APR of 4.125%** for all qualified borrowers.***
*Must provide verification of net weekly or biweekly income through a pay stub, bank statement or if member uses Wright-Patt Credit Union’s direct deposit system, through this system. Credit limit will be determined based on net bi-weekly income.
**APR = Annual Percentage Rate. All loans are subject to credit review and approval. The Special “Shutdown” Loan has no payment and no interest for the first 90 days. Interest will begin to accrue on the 91st day. The Special “Shutdown” Loan has a fixed interest rate of 0% for the first 90 days, and a fixed interest rate of 7.25% after the first 90 days for the duration of the loan term, resulting in a composite APR of 4.125%. Loan amount will be determined based on member’s net weekly or biweekly income. For Example, the Special "Shutdown" Loan for $1,000 with a 12-month term will have no monthly payment and no interest for the first 90 days and a payment of $113.81 for the remaining 9 months at 7.25% interest, with a composite APR of 4.125%. APR accurate as of 11/1/2025 and may change at any time. If your payment is more than 10 days late, there is a Late Payment Fee of 5% of the payment due. Offer is subject to change and may end at any time.
***Must provide verification member belongs to a group negatively affected by the government shutdown. Must be a member in good standing.
If you're affected by the federal government shutdown and facing financial strain, WPCU may be able to help by allowing you to skip an additional consumer loan payment**** – without penalty (total of two for the calendar year).
- No skip-a-payment or late fee charged
- Your loan won’t be considered delinquent
- No derogatory reporting to the credit bureau
To take advantage of this option, you'll need to provide documentation showing that your paycheck has been impacted by the shutdown.
This offer applies only to eligible WPCU consumer loans, including auto, signature, and QCash loans. While student loans, home equity loans, and credit cards aren’t eligible for skip-a-payments, we encourage you to reach out – we’re here to explore other ways we can support you.
****Member must be in good standing. Only one skip-a-payment may be used at a time. If a member chooses to utilize the additional skip-a-pay, at least one payment must be made between the two skip-a-payments.
