​​I​f ​the federal government shutdown has left you without a paycheck and you need financial assistance, please reach out to us. We have several programs, including a special loan, to help you. WPCU began during tough times, and our role today remains the same – to be a caring financial partner for our members and help members through life.​​​​​​

​​​​​Special “Shutdow​n” Loan for Impacted Members
To help impacted members manage through​ the federal government shutdown, WPCU has created a special “Shutdown” loan for members who find themselves in a temporary hardship due to not receiving their paycheck as a result of the federal government shutdown. Below are some details of the loan:
  • Signature loan based on member’s normal net weekly or bi-weekly pay*.
  • 7.25% APR** up to 12 months for all qualified borrowers***.
  • If member pays the loan back within 30 days of the issuing of the loan, no interest will be charged.
Special Skip-A-Payment
During the federal government shutdown, impacted members in good standing are eligible to skip an additional WPCU consumer loan payment**** without penalty (total of two for the calendar year), which means:
  • No skip-a-payment or late fee charged;​
  • Not showing the loan as being delinquent; and
  • No derogatory reporting to the credit bureau. 

​To be eligible to skip-a-payment and advance the due date on the loan to the next month, members will need to provide sufficient proof that they are not receiving their paycheck as a result of the federal government shutdown.

Only consumer loans eligible for skip-a-pays are eligible for this program, including auto, signature, and QCash loans. Loans such as student loans, home equity loans and credit cards are not eligible for skip-a-pays; however, if you need assistance with one of these types of loans, please reach out to us to discuss potential options.

​*Must provide verification of net weekly or biweekly income through a pay stub, bank statement or if member uses Wright-Patt Credit Union’s direct deposit system, through this system. Credit limit will be determined based on net bi-weekly income.

**APR = Annual Percentage Rate. All loans are subject to credit review and approval. The Special “Shutdown” Loan is a fixed rate of 7.25% APR for the duration of the loan with terms up to 12 months. No interest will be charged if loan is paid in full within 1 month of loan closing. Loan amount will be determined based on member’s net weekly or biweekly income. For example, the Special “Shutdown” Loan for $1,000 with a 12-month term will have a monthly payment of $86.64. APR accurate as of 10/1/2025 and may change at any time. If your payment is more than 10 days late, there is a Late Payment Fee of 5% of the payment due.

​***Must provide verification member belongs to a group negatively affected by the government shutdown. Must be a member in good standing.

****Only one skip-a-payment may be used at a time. If a member chooses to utilize the additional skip-a-pay, at least one payment must be made between the two skip-a-payments. ​
