Select Employer Group Success Story: Youth Yoga Project

Wright-Patt Credit Union's (WPCU) Select Employer Group program is dedicated to making life a little easier for local organizations and their employees. We've had the privilege of partnering with organizations across Central Ohio, providing them with the no-cost benefit of credit union membership for their employees, as well as free financial learning and wellness programs.

Recently, we had a chance to catch up with one of our non-profit Select Employer Group partners, Youth Yoga Project and its co-founders Lauren Greenspan and Julia Handelman.

Youth Yoga Project is an Ohio-based non-profit organization that empowers schools with healthy strategies to help students manage their stress. Created for educators, by educators, Youth Yoga Project provides a research-based curriculum that teaches students social-emotional learning through mindfulness.

For the past year, WPCU Business Development Representative Amy Hawley and Business Development Coordinator Bailey Hanley have partnered with Youth Yoga Project to advance their mission in the community.

“With the support of Wright-Patt Credit Union, we were able to award scholarships for educators, providing them with training in mindfulness practices that support emotional well-being for their students and themselves," explained Lauren and Julia. “Additionally, Wright-Patt Credit Union donated mindfulness at-home kits to Columbus City Schools' families, helping them find calm and connection during this difficult winter."

As a WPCU Select Employer Group, Youth Yoga Project also has the opportunity to receive free financial learning seminars and webinars. The organization's leadership team recently participated in WPCU's Financial Freedom course, where they learned about best practices for financial health and well-being.

In celebration of International Women's Day in March, WPCU partnered with Youth Yoga Project to co-host 'Women for Wellness,' a free restorative wellness experience for female non-profit leaders in Columbus. Attendees enjoyed learning financial wellness tips from Amy Hawley, followed by a mindful meditation and slow yoga movement activity led by the Youth Yoga Project team.

“Wright-Patt Credit Union has been committed to our mission, especially during one of the most difficult years in our history," said Lauren and Julia. “This partnership has allowed us to expand our impact to support more educators, students and families at a time when it is needed most. We look forward to our continued partnership!"
