Central Ohio Community Engagement: Spring 2021

At Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU), we take an active and collaborative approach to engaging with our communities. During the first quarter of 2021, we had the pleasure of supporting and participating in several events throughout Central Ohio. Here's an overview of our activities:

Supporting Creativity at Wonderball 2021

In January, we partnered with the Columbus Museum of Art to sponsor their annual Wonderball event, held virtually this year. This event alone helped the Museum raise nearly $1,000,000 to support programs that foster purposeful play, inspire creativity and provoke curiosity while supporting our extraordinary creative community.

Women in Business Series

In partnership with the Gahanna Area Chamber of Commerce, WPCU sponsored the quarterly Women in Business Series, which gives women the opportunity to gather for networking and education that enhances their paths both professionally and personally. During a virtual event in February, we learned about “Making the Most of Social Media" from Mary Fessler, Ohio Account Director for National CineMedia.

Celebrating Women's History Month

In honor of Women's History Month and International Women's Day, WPCU partnered with Youth Yoga Project to host 'Women for Wellness,' a free wellness event supporting and celebrating female non-profit leaders, movers and shakers.

The event featured financial wellness as well as mindfulness and stress management tips specifically for female leaders. Amy Hawley, a Wright-Patt Credit Union Business Development Representative, provided financial tips and insight, followed by a mindful meditation and slow yoga movement activity led by Youth Yoga Project's team.

Small Business Association Round Table Conversation

WPCU is committed to supporting the passionate small business owners and entrepreneurs in Central Ohio. Recently, Meredith Oberdick from our Member Business Services team attended an SBA Round Table Conversation at the Crimson Cup Innovation Lab in Columbus. Along with Leadership Council Members (CYP) and local business owners Kristin Harper and Vishal Patel, Meredith discussed the dos and don'ts of starting a small business, especially in light of the pandemic.

Although most events were very different from past years, it was exciting to experience so much of our amazing community virtually. We're looking forward to more opportunities for community collaboration in 2021!
