3 Ways to Celebrate National Financial Wellness Month

January marks the start of a brand new year and National Financial Wellness Month, which means there's no better time to get a fresh start with your finances!

Are you wondering what you can do to improve your financial wellness? Here are a few ideas to help you jumpstart your money goals in 2022:

#1: Focus on financial flexibility and freedom

There are many different ways to define “financial wellness." One way to think about it is having the financial flexibility and freedom to live the life you want to live.

At Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU), we help our members achieve financial flexibility and freedom in four key areas:

  • Save – Saving better is all about having money allocated for now, soon and later. If you haven't already, consider opening a high-yield savings account. Use your savings account to set aside money each month for your emergency fund and other savings goals.
  • Spend – Spending wisely means spending less than your income, paying your bills on time and in full and managing your money wisely. Building or brushing up on your budget is a great place to start!
  • Borrow — Borrowing smarter involves using the best lending tools in the right way, and understanding how your borrowing habits impact your overall credit picture and opportunities.
  • Plan — Having a smart plan for tomorrow is about investing in you and your family's future and preparing for your retirement. It's never too early to start planning and saving for your financial future!

#2: Make it easier to manage your money

Keeping your money organized doesn't need to be difficult! With Money Management, available through WPCU's Mobile and Online Banking, you can view all your financial accounts, including those with other institutions, all in one place. Plus, you can easily track your spending, create budgets, set goals and much more. Check out this interactive demo of Money Management to get started today.

#3: Sign up for a financial education class

Money terms and topics can be confusing at times. Don't worry — you don't have to navigate your financial journey on your own! At WPCU, we're here to help you learn a lot with a variety of financial education classes and webinars.

A few of our upcoming financial education events include:
