The Central Ohio community has been buzzing with activity over the past few months! All summer long, the Wright-Patt Credit Union (WCPU) Columbus Business Development Representative team had the pleasure of continuing to support several of our long-time community partners at many special events, festivals and volunteer opportunities.
Networking Events
In July, the WPCU Columbus Business Development Representative team hosted our first networking event of the year at Top Golf. As the year goes on, WPCU will host two additional networking events at the Columbus Museum of Art in conjunction with their event, BAM Thursdays. BAM stands for “Bar, Art, and Music" and welcomes the Columbus community to enjoy creative expression in a vibrant social atmosphere at the Museum.
We were also happy to support the LIFT Symposium with Columbus Business First towards the end of July. While we have missed the monthly Columbus Business First Networking Breakfasts this year, we have found joy in supporting through different channels this year!
Back-to-School Raffle at Tanger Outlets
As the busy back-to-school shopping season arrived, our team spent Tax-Free Weekend at Tanger Outlets in Columbus and raffled off a back-to-school basket with a $500 gift card to Tanger Outlets to one lucky winner.
Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center's Third Thursdays
WPCU continues to support the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center (CRC) by sponsoring its monthly Third Thursday events throughout the summer, which feature local live music, food trucks and kids' activities. The CRC helps people in need by providing assistance through youth services, family services and senior supportive services. This important organization and those who support it take pride in caring for the people of Clintonville and beyond!
Volunteering at Franklinton Farms
Small Biz Cares invited a group of WPCU partner-employees to support a volunteering effort at Franklinton Farms, where they prepared a garden space for planting fresh produce. Franklinton is geographically in a food desert, and through 11 plots of land turned into farming space, Franklinton Farms provides fresh, affordable and locally-grown produce to its community. Due to the flooding that historically took place in Franklinton before the Scioto Mile was built, the soil in the Franklinton area is rich with nutrients and the prime place to grow fresh plants and produce. We are proud to support this non-profit!
Summer Festival Fun
Throughout the summer, WPCU had a presence at numerous community festivals and events, including but not limited to the North Market Night Market, Grandview Hop and Free Family Fun Day at the Columbus Commons. Each of these events provides community connection, live entertainment, and delicious food and drinks. We had a great time educating about the WPCU difference — you can always count on finding us near the fun!
This summer, we also welcomed our new Business Development Coordinator, Desi Sands, so keep an eye out for her at upcoming community events. We are looking forward to a busy fall season filled with even more opportunities to help people through life!
