Smartphones, laptops, and tablets can be convenient but they can also expose you to the risk of fraud and identity theft. Keep your devices secure and stay one step ahead of the scammers with these helpful tips. Tip 1: Create strong, secure passwords. When creating passwords, try to use a complex combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Use the first initals of a favorite phrase. Don't use birthdates and names. Change passwords every 90 days. Avoid saving passwords on your devices which will give someone easy access to your accounts if your device is stolen or lost. Tip 2: Lock screens on devices when you are away. If you need to walk away from your devices for any reason, make sure you log off and lock the screen. Even if you're only away for a few minutes, someone can use your device to access your personal information. Tip 3: Protect against malware attacks. Malware is a type of dangerous software cyber criminals use to access the personal data from your computer.
