Scams happen every day and they're becoming harder and harder to spot. Here are some of the top scams to watch out for. Tip 1: Online, mail, text and phone scams. First, beware of scammers who pretend to be from reputable sources and ask you to provide your personal account information or send money online, over the phone, or by mail. Always think before you click, respond, or provide information. Tip 2: Card skimming. Next, look out for card scammers. Criminals place these small devices over card readers to copy the information from your credit or debit card. Before using, check the ATM or card reader by giving it a tug and looking for signs of broken seals. Tip 3: Check fraud. Finally, check fraud occurs when a scammer asks you to deposit a fraudulent cashier's check and wire back the overage. If you deposit and use the money, you will be liable.
