Special Message from the VP of Human Resources: Extraordinary Service is Our Goal

October 17, 2016

I started with Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU) in April of this year, and the first thing we talked about in New Hire Orientation was that delivering extraordinary service to our members is our priority. We believe extraordinary member service means providing members accurate, efficient, friendly and professional service, building strong relationships, and handling issues quickly. We understand that extraordinary service is the best way to keep our members coming back! Building extraordinary member service begins at the time of hire. Effective recruiting is an essential part of any business and it pays to do it properly. Wright-Patt Credit Union believes when we choose the right partner-employee for the job, train them well,...

Leadership Message from Darrick Weeks, Chief Operating Officer

September 13, 2016

Members Spoke... and We Listened! I’ve been a part of the Wright-Patt Credit Union team for just over six years now – and to say I've seen a tremendous transformation is an understatement. I am often asked, "What keeps you up at night?" My answer is consistent: the pace of change and keeping up with our changing member needs. Here at the credit union, we often ask...

President’s Message – Small Dollar Lending: WPCU Fights for Members

August 14, 2016

It’s an issue important to millions of Americans and thousands of WPCU members: The high cost of small dollar emergency “payday” and auto title loans. For years WPCU has offered “StretchPay®†”, a payday loan alternative for members who don’t qualify for traditional loans. StretchPay® saves members hundreds of dollars every year compared to payday loans. Borrowing $500 for six months from payday lenders in Ohio typically costs more than $900 in fees and interest alone, while borrowing the same amount with StretchPay® costs less than $100. StretchPay® loans are made at 18% APR* with an annual fee. However, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in Washington, D.C....
