Board of Directors is Seeking Associate Development Committee Members

November 08, 2017

Volunteering with WPCU is a unique community leadership opportunity

The Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU) Board of Directors is looking for qualified applicants who are interested in serving on WPCU’s Associate Development Committee. The purpose of this volunteer committee is for potential future directors to learn what it means to serve credit union members and the communities in which we serve.

Volunteering with WPCU is a unique community leadership opportunity

WPCU Directors are committed to community service, the financial health of consumers and businesses throughout WPCU’s service areas, and the overall success of a complex business enterprise. This includes developing and maintaining an understanding of the financial industry and credit union philosophy sufficient to effectively participate in the process of making policies and overseeing operations.

Share in the responsibility of guiding the credit union’s future

The board advises and approves strategic planning initiatives, develops policy, and approves budgets and other plans necessary for continued success.  The board also shares a fiduciary duty on behalf of members which requires good faith, trust, and an ethical responsibility to act in the best interests of the membership. In short, board members are the voice of the membership, and are responsible for ensuring WPCU achieves its vision while remaining financially sound and protecting member-owned assets.

Potential Future Board of Director Positions

When a board vacancy arises, Associates make up the primary pool of candidates to fill unfinished terms or to run for open board seats.  However, being appointed to WPCU’s Associate Development Committee is not a guarantee of a future role on the board of directors.  Still, this is a great opportunity to develop the seasoning necessary to qualify for such a position and learn a great deal about managing a complex financial institution.

Interested in applying and learning more?

Management will provide prospective candidates with an application package describing what it means to serve on the WPCU Board and what is expected of its appointed Associate Directors. To learn more, contact Jessica Hilderbrand at (937)-912-7303 or jhilderbrand@wpcu.coop.
